Understanding the threat of bioterrorism

Over the last several years, a confluence of events, including the World Trade Center attacks, escalating tensions with Iraq, and the anthrax scare, have focused attention on the growing threat of terrorism in the United States, including the use of chemical, biological, radiological, or nuclear weapons. These developments have demonstrated, to policy makers and the public alike, that our nation is vulnerable to bioterrorism.

University of Nebraska faculty offer expertise in key areas that will help the news media bring a clear understanding of bioterrorism issues to their readers, viewers, and listeners.

Under the leadership of the University of Nebraska Medical Center, the new Center for Biosecurity brings together scientists and clinicians from all four campuses in a unique collaboration that serves the state and nation by addressing both human and agricultural biosecurity concerns.
